No network and can't open terminal. Also the File Manager was stuck too and low resolution video. I figured out that its best to reinstall rather than upgrade...but why waste hours on the internet to fix this. You have to act as newbie to get the answers otherwise no body would reply. Most of the replies don't work. Ubuntu 9.04 update is worst than 8.10 release. ubuntu 8.04 to ubuntu 8.10 was better. I had to reinstall by taking a backup.. but the upgrade screwed up.
