Well, here we are again. Time for another quick look at some of the many things going on in IT right now. This is a bit late, and I apologize for that. I usually want to get these out in the early A.M. Anyway, let’s take a look.
CentOS Back on Track
It looks like CentOS isn’t dead afterall. This is interesting to me, because I just started playing with CentOS once I started on trying to get my Linux+ certification. I’m glad to see that it’s back on track.
Apple Tried To Silence Exploding iPod Issue
I think virtually everyone has heard about this but just in case you didn’t, apparently Apple tried to silence someone with an exploding iPod in order for them to get a refund. Now that’s great business!
GNOME to drop icons in buttons and menus
It seems like GNOME may Drop icons in widget buttons in the next release. I hope they do, it will surely simplify things a bit more and I don’t think those icons were all that necessary in the first place.
SUSE Studio Released
SUSE Studio was recently released. I’m still waiting for my invite, but it sounds really cool!
Microsoft Drops Windows 7E
Remember all that talk about Windows 7E and how it was going to cave to European Pressure by not including a browser? Well, Windows 7E is no more. That makes sense to me though, since with the Browser Ballot screen there really isn’t any more need for it anyway.

Dr Eric Schmidt quits Apple Board
I think a lot of people saw this coming. Apple and Google are now going to become competitors due to Google’s “Chrome OS”. That’s the obvious reason for Dr Eric leaving the board.
